It was Happy Days at Brandspank when we won a competitive pitch to create the Brand identity for JONES! - A new channel showcasing the classic shows we all grew up with. The shows that made us first fall in love with TV. The brief challenged design agencies to create a brand which would give permission for an audience to re-enjoy the content once again.
Our response was to create a brand that gave this permission by projecting a contagious enthusiasm. A brand not ashamed of what it is and one that brings value to the viewing experience beyond purely watching aggregated TV shows.
'Jones is always up', became a motto for the channel which was then visually reflected through the angled typography seen across print and on-air material.
This extended into the character of Jones that grew into a bold and lovable character who just loves TV. Jones brings life back into the content by mimicking key moments from our favourite shows and by speaking to the audience with familiarity throughout all promotional material.
An overarching concept of 'TV digitally remastered' was realised when designing the Jones package. A nod to an early television graphic aesthetic led to a purposeful decision to work in 2D where possible. Bold, simplified designs and large areas of flat colour became the base of the channel imagery. This was then given a contemporary nudge by adopting a confident palette of over saturated colours and exaggerated animation devices.
